the world today we often hear music groups, film stars, models and the like wake
up to certain plights in the world and then dedicating their time and finances
to it ‘cause it makes them feel they are part of something bigger than their
little world of creating entertainment for the masses and battling personal
struggles and conflicts. May God bless them for their efforts, but even that
eventually fades away. So
what is the ‘something bigger’ we can be part of that has been there forever
and will remain for all eternity? How do we become part of it and what does it
is called the Kingdom of God and gets revealed through church and it costs nothing
but salvation and a life time commitment to allow God to have Christ formed in
discovered something incredible over the last couple of months and especially
the last two weeks. I finally get that I am part of something big and it is
eternal and it changes lives, communities and eventually nations. I am part of
a church, but no…
This is as pure a reality in my life as breathing oxygen
God’s dream is to see man restored to Him, that’s why He
gave His Son. His dream is the church.
We all have dreams of things we want to do and
accomplish, of places we want to go and things we’d like to see or even of the
‘somebodies’ we’d like to become. Some of us will experience those or at least
some of those dreams come true, some of us will never get to experience it. But
what if there was a way, a key to having those dreams come true. Even if it
isn’t all of them, but at least one. Would we like to have that key? I would.
And by the grace of God I did find that key. I found it in the church, and
I had and still have passions and lifelong dreams
regarding sporting events or races I would love to do before I am too old or
the Father calls me home to heaven one day. They are things that might be silly
to others but mean a lot to me, like swimming Robin Island, running the
Comrades marathon and doing the…
Faith - Patience - Endurance - Perseverance = These go together.
We have hopes, desires, dreams and promises and as we go through life we expect to see these come to pass at some or other point. With us humans it's normally rather immediately than later.....
Isn't it just like us when we have an idea, or a promise or something that looks like it is a solution presented for a area of concern in our lives, that we want it immediately. Not a day later, a week, month, year or even years later, no, we want it and we want it now!
Doesn't God understand that our situation is desperate! Doesn't He get that we are suffering and struggling through every day!
How arrogant and ignorant.
On Friday last week I was invited to lecture at the very Bible College I had myself attended in 1996. The chapter in the manual I was given to lecture on was Faith (Fruit of the Spirit by Miracle Bible College). It was such a timely exercise on Gods part. As I was going through the chapter in prep…
How do we see people?
What is our first impression when we spend time with someone?
Are we quick to cast judgement on behavior or on what we hear?
How do we view relationships and what do we expect from them, especially family relationships?
These are things we can all take a moment to think upon.........
In my life, relationships have always been very, very volatile, imbalanced and mostly short lived or extremely controversial.......until.......I surrendered ALL to Jesus.
Looking at the questions I opened this page with, let me throw this at you....we see, judge, hear and experience others through our own experiences, hurts, disappointments, false expectations. An apostle of the Lord and a man I consider to be holy and righteous once ministered in our church and made this very strong, and in some aspects, confrontational statement of revealed truth - idol worship is having false images of God, and if I have a false image of God I also have a false image of myself.- This is a TRUTH! …
It was our ten year anniversary in April but as with all big families, hubby and I celebrated with the children at the Spur while driving to sports locations to drop off and fetch in between. Therefore the love of my life decided that this past long weekend was THE perfect time to get away and have a second honeymoon. This was also our first break away in nine years, alone! We found a quint guest lodge on the beach in De Kelders by the name of ‘The Crayfish Lodge’. This German built, owned and run home was exactly what the ‘doctor’ ordered to enjoy much needed rest and alone time in a place that felt like your very own. Reinhard and Sandra Kern definitely have the gift of hospitality. There really is a vast difference between someone who can run a successful guest house as a business, have great interior, good food and the best of everything, and then having a place that feels like your very own home that you don’t mind spending all day in. To experience quiet rest that lulls you to sle…
In the dark ages when the
church was persecuted heavily especially those breaking away from the lies of
the Catholic church and its wicked entrapments, parents raised their children
for martyrdom. In Lyon France one can read the history when one visits the ruins
of the ghastly prisons they would put men, women and children in to await their
fate of being tortured or fed to the lions all because of their faith in Jesus Christ. When we read in the Old Testament
we see that God required all to stand before Him when Moses instructed the
people in the Law of the Lord. These things got me
thinking, because at the time of me learning about all this I had just gotten
married and I had 3 little children and a baby. It made a very deep impact on
me in the way in which I would from then on raise my children. I decided there and then
that this is what I would do, because quite honestly, why should I water life
down just because we live in a modern age where in most countries in the world
you are not…
Triathlete Sebastian Kienle 2012 What
comes to mind when you look at a picture like this? Athlete Victory Joy Strength Finish Now,
when I show you this one? Finished Victory Completion 1st Place Prize Reward I
have had the privilege of meeting athletes that have accomplished great feats
in their sporting life as well as athletes of faith and both have one distinct
trait in common – Single-minded vision, focused endurance and absolute
dedication to the call. Be it that it is a call for glory in this life, or to
see the glory of Christ revealed in the lives of people. We
are all in a race of some sort, but as a wise man said one day – “They say we
are in a rat race, thing is, the only ones winning, are the rats.” I don’t know
about you but I do not want to be in that race! J As
an athlete and sports coach myself I have seen and experienced the sacrifices
athletes have to make in order to get wher…
So, excitement is in the air as we head toward the last preparations for the Good News production next week.
I remember when we were in Bible College and we had to spend a week after class cutting, pasting and roping posters and then spend a whole day out in the streets in the area we were hosting a conference and then put up the posters on lamp posts, in shop windows and speak to and evangelize people on the street. Man, it made us feel like we were ready to save the world!
Today, fifteen years and four children later, I was pounding the pavement with the MBC students, some of the pastors, the dean of studies and yes, great privilege, three of my children! We set off in teams and received allocated areas and in the areas we walked two by two just as the disciples of Jesus did and we again, put up poster, handed out leaflets and spoke to people about the hope of Jesus.
And then, something I have never, in my wildest imagination thought Id ever do……. I took up center “stage” in a traf…
I woke up with these words
this afternoon after a short nap (Tuesday
24 march 2014). It is the voice of the
Holy Spirit confirming what I had been meditating on in His Word regarding
wisdom in the book of Proverbs. As those of you who either
know me personally or have been following my writings may already know, one of
my four children has the gift of dyslexia. I now call it a gift since I have
learnt so much about it over the past three years that I am thoroughly
convinced it is a gift and not a problem, curse, condition, ailments,
disability or learning problem. What really started me searching for the truth
regarding this is my sons’ very own words one day as we drove to school having
completed yet another remedial lesson on 14 January 2013 – he had already been
going for two years and this was the beginning of his third year and he was fed
up especially since there was no more progress than when we started and he was
still not reading - “Mom I don’t see myself as someone who a di…
